Coronavirus Updates - March 17, 2020

Coronavirus Information for the Campus CommunityAs of today, Chattanooga State continues to have no confirmed cases of COVID-19. The student mentioned in yesterday’s communication has tested negative for COVID-19. As a reminder, if you are sick, please stay home to help prevent the spread of this disease and continue to practice social distancing.

Lab Courses

  • Contact your instructor for lab instructions.
  • For labs that must be held in person, no more than 10 people will be allowed in lab space at a time. The College will adhere to social distancing recommendations of 3-6 feet, not allowing adjacent computers or work spaces to be used.

Testing Center

  • Instructors will communicate directly with students regarding testing information.
  • The Testing Center will be open for individuals who pre-paid for a nonrefundable test. The Testing Center is practicing social distancing and regularly disinfecting surfaces to ensure the safety of those testing.

Math Center Update

The Math Center will be open through March 20. Beginning Monday, March 23 the Math Center will be online only. Online tutoring will be available. Sign-up for online tutoring here. NOTE: if you have signed up for tutoring services scheduled after March 20, the Math Center will contact you to reschedule for an online tutoring session.

Writing Center Live Online

The Andrews Reading and Writing Center is live online. While the Center will not be open for face-to-face sessions, it will be available online with live assistance for writing assignments. Tutors will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Please access your eLearn for information that will be posted to eLearn by your instructor. Updates on eLearn will be provided throughout the week. If you have specific questions, please contact your instructor. ​

Child Development Center

The Child Development Center (CDC) will remain open through Friday, March 20. Beginning Monday, March 23, the CDC will be closed until further notice.

Cafeteria

The OMNI cafeteria will remain open with limited hours and limited menu.

Bookstore

Beginning Monday, March 23, the campus bookstore will operate online only.

Athletics / Spring Sports

The NJCAA recently announced the decision to cancel all athletic competition for the remainder of the academic year. This includes practices, regular and postseason games, and national championship play.

Reminders (from Previous Communications)

  • Spring break extended through Sunday, March 22. Coursework, including tests, originally scheduled for the week of March 16 will be rescheduled. Instructors will provide updated timing of tests.
  • Courses will be taught online for the remainder of the semester. Please continue to communicate with your instructors. Online instruction begins Monday, March 23.
    • NOTE: TCAT students should access eLearn for updates from instructors regarding scheduling.  If you have specific questions, please contact your instructor.
  • All on-campus events are canceled through April 30.
  • The Kolwyck Library is online only. KLIC Online Library LIVE: https://library.chattanoogastate.edu/
  • Work study students should NOT report to work on campus until further notice; however, work study students will be paid during this time.
