Coronavirus Updates - March 13

Just a reminder, and with additional clarification, all students in our academic and technical (TCAT) divisions will resume classes on Monday, March 23, and all classes will be held online. This includes classes normally held in-person and Chattanooga State online classes. However students taking TN eCampus online classes are asked to contact their instructor regarding when class will resume.

Students Without Access to Internet or Electronic Devices

As we shift to an online environment, we recognize that not all students have access to computers or the Internet while at home. Please know this is one of our top concerns and we are working on a plan for students in this situation. We expect to have an update in this area by the middle of next week.

Testing Center

Tests for current online students and those who pre-paid for a non-refundable test will proceed as scheduled. The Testing Center is practicing social distancing and regular disinfecting measures.

Midterms

Midterms originally scheduled for the week of March 16 will be rescheduled. Please look for information from your instructor.

TCAT Students

The TCAT faculty and staff are working hard to develop a plan to address clock hour programs. Please stay tuned for more information next week.

Clinicals for Nursing & Allied Health Students

For students in clinicals, please look for information from your instructor.

Student Workers

Federal Work Study and Academic Work Study student workers who would have worked on campus will be paid for their typical work schedule through the end of the month. The Financial Aid Office will be contacting supervisors of student workers with updates. For temporary contract student workers, they may continue to work, if deemed necessary by their supervisors

Cafeteria

The main cafeteria in OMNI remains open with a limited menu and no buffet service. The CETAS Cafeteria is closed until further notice.

Child Development Center Open, May Have Extra Spots

We are proud to have our high-quality Child Development Center remaining open during this time, including evening hours. In addition, a plan is being developed to accommodate extra children in the CDC during this unprecedented time. We will announce that plan as soon as possible.

Faculty & Staff Work Schedules May Flex, Go Remote

We have broad autonomy from the College System of Tennessee (TBR) to be flexible and supportive with employee work schedules during this time. Individual employees who need alternate scheduling options, and/or who need to work remotely may seek approval from their supervisors and/or division vice president. We have asked campus leaders to be very flexible and accommodating.

Campus leadership is meeting daily to address issues related to this situation as they arise and to create contingency plans. It is the primary focus of our work at this time.
