Coronavirus Updates - April 1, 2020

Coronavirus info for webDear Chattanooga State Community,
There a two very important updates in today’s communication that are outlined in detail below. Please know that I have just received word for TBR that the College System of Tennessee campuses are to remain closed until at least April 30. Therefore, our campus will remain closed until that date. Please take a few moments to read the important information below.

Honorlock / Test Proctoring Service Update

Thank you, students, for sharing your concerns regarding the use of Honorlock. We have made the decision to not utilize Honorlock for the current spring term. However, the Honorlock test proctoring service, or a comparable test proctoring service, will be utilized for the summer term(s) at the discretion of the instructor and dependent upon the specific needs of each academic division.

Chattanooga State takes very seriously the privacy and security of our students. Chattanooga State’s governing board, the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), executed a formal agreement with Honorlock effective March 30. It is important to know that this agreement replaces Honorlock’s general Terms of Services and includes specific legal requirements for the privacy and security of student information. The TBR agreement with Honorlock prohibits Honorlock from selling or transferring student information to third parties and prevents Honorlock from scanning home networks or monitoring devices other than the device used for testing.

Campus Closure Update – Closed Through April 30

  • The Chattanooga State main campus, as well as the Dayton and Kimball sites, will remain closed through at least April 30. Access is limited to essential employees only during this closure.
  • All courses will continue to be taught in an online format for the remainder of the semester.
  • TCAT and Engineering labs scheduled to begin April 6 will not be scheduled in the spring semester. Please check your emails or contact your instructors for additional information.
