How are interns selected?
- Participants must successfully complete ET 112, Mathematics for Engineering Technology and an interview.
- ET 112 classes are October 10th – December 6th.
How does the internship work?
Interns earn a Chemical Operator Technical Certificate from Chattanooga State while working at Colonial Chemical
January – May
- Interns will work up to 24 hours per week at a pay rate $20/hour
- Interns take two classes at Kimball campus, and must successfully pass both courses to continue internship:
- CHET 1400, Industrial Chemistry
- MECH 1320, Mechanical Components and Electrical Drives
May – August
- Interns will work up to 24 hours per week at a pay rate $22/hour
- Interns take two classes at Kimball campus, and must successfully pass both courses to be considered for employment:
- CHET 1410, Process Operations 1
- CHET 1300, Process Equipment
August
- Successful interns may receive a full-time position job offer with a wage of up to $24.50 per hour
How do I apply to the internship?
- Complete the Chattanooga State admissions process
- Enroll in ET 112 for October
- Students will be interviewed during the ET 112 course
- All students must successfully complete ET 112 to be considered an intern
Do I have to pay tuition to take the college classes?
- Yes, all tuition and fees need to be paid. However, there are numerous ways for financial assistance—Tennessee Reconnect or Federal Pell grant.
- Fees for ET 112 are around $650.
- Fees for ET 112 are around $650.
- Once the paid internship begins, Colonial Chemical will provide last dollar scholarships for interns.
