Curriculum Details

Graduates of the Chemical Engineering Technology concentration will have the necessary skills to perform the job functions of a Process Technician in a wide-variety of manufacturing facilities (e.g. petrochemical, plastics, pharmaceuticals, waste management). Responsibilities of a technician in the chemical industry include operation and monitoring of manufacturing processes through utilization of automated control systems. Process Technicians are highly qualified in the operation of various types of equipment within a chemical facility, including boilers, cooling towers,distillation columns and reactors.

Wacker Institute:

The Engineering Technology Division at Chattanooga State Community College and Wacker Polysilicon, North America are partnering to develop programs of study to produce the best trained technicians in the petrochemical industry through a unique and rigorous educational collaboration.
