Enjoy beautiful views of the Tennessee River from the lobby of the Hunter Museum during Writers@Work's annual interview night. Erica Lux, Chattanooga State Associate Professor of English and W@W Program Co-Director, will interview Christian J. Collier about his life as a writer and his experience as a Southern author. Join us at the Hunter Museum of American Art to ask questions, get your books signed, and mingle with other readers from the community while enjoying  delicious bites at our author’s reception.

The Chattanooga State Jazz band presents an evening of jazz standards with mixed ensemble, under the musical direction of Jay Stanfill.

Attention, writers! W@W invites you to attend a craft talk with Writers@Work's visiting author for 2026, Christian J. Collier. His award-winning poetry tackles difficult topics while remaining accessible. Come listen to a discussion of how he balances a writing life with a career and family, what brings him inspiration, and what he’s working on now. Bring your questions and be prepared to take notes!

As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s comedy plays that features disguise, witty banter, and love stories. The play is adapted and directed by guest artist Frank Mihelich and stage managed by Katie Hamilton. The play will feature ChattState students and alumni.

Join the Chattanooga State Symphonic Band for the second installment of the two-part series, “Fact and Fiction.” This concert will feature musical selections sourced from fantastical subjects. The Symphonic Band is directed by Nick Hartline and includes students of the college, the STEM School of Chattanooga, Collegiate High, as well as community volunteers.

What is BASF's Tech Academy?

BASF's Tech academy is a week-long summer program designed to introduce rising high school juniors and seniors to high-demand careers in technical fields, all provided at no cost. Through this initiative, curious teens can explore the skills needed and engage with professionals to begin their journey in the industry.

What kind of careers can I learn about?

If you are interested in technial can craft careers, this is your chance to learn about: process technician (operator), maintenance, welding, instrument technician, laboratory services, scaffolding, engineering, manufacturing, chemistry, robotics, chemical facility operations, computer science, and more!

When is BASF's Tech Academy?

June 8–12, 2026.

“Water: From Rain to the Deep” Come join Chattanooga State’s Concert Choir as we trace the journey of water. From tiny rain drops to the depths of the ocean, you will experience choral music inspired by jazz, bluegrass, sea shanties, spirituals, and classical music.

Graduation Ceremony 

Tickets

Each participating graduate may receive up to six (6) guest tickets to their ceremony. Every guest, regardless of age, MUST have a ticket to enter the ceremony. Tickets are issued for a specific ceremony time, not for a specific seat. Ticketed guests may sit in any available seat. We recommend and request that groups of guests arrive together, enter together, and sit together. We expect that all seats will be used at each ceremony, and we have not allocated "buffer seats" between groups of guests.

Location

Graduates line up in the Branch Center lobby.

All ceremonies will be in the HPF Building (Gymnasium) on the main (Amnicola Highway) campus.

Arrival Time

Graduates - Arrive 1.5 hours before the scheduled ceremony time, and come dressed in regalia (cap, gown, cords, medals, etc.)
 
Ticketed Guests - We aim to open the doors 30 minutes before each scheduled ceremony. This will depend on the duration of the preceding ceremony.

Duration

Ceremonies will start promptly at the published time and will likely last around 45 minutes.

Photos

Professional photographs will be taken, and you will have the opportunity to order prints through the photography company. You will receive more details at the ceremony.

Parking & Access

Graduates and guests should park in Lot P1, the Visitor Parking Lot. All ceremonies will be held in the Gymnasium (HPF) building, which is number 4 on the campus map.

Accessibility & Accommodations

Typical requests might include that you or your guests cannot navigate stairs, or that your guests need to sit in a place where they can read the live captioning. The planned route for graduates includes a few stairs into the HPF building.
