Alex Singleton maintains a private music studio, teaching players of all ages in a range of different styles. He is in demand to present saxophone and woodwind clinics to middle and high school band and orchestra programs throughout Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina.
During his career as a student, Alex was the 2016 winner of the University of West Georgia’s Concerto Competition and performed multiple times as a soloist with the University of West Georgia Wind Ensemble. He has also been featured as a soloist with Haralson County High School’s Wind Ensemble, Haralson County’s Community Wind Ensemble and The Chattanooga State Wind Symphony.
Prior to beginning his career as a professional teacher and musician, Alex was selected multiple times to participate in the American Saxophone Academy and James Houlik’s “Wildeacres Saxophone Retreat” where he briefly studied under the United States top saxophonists and pedagogues such as Timothy McAllister, Connie Frigo, Carrie Koffman, Chien-Kwan Lin, Otis Murphy and Kenneth Tse.
As a chamber musician, Alex is the soprano saxophonist for the Chattanooga Saxophone Ensemble, The Black Days Saxophone Quartet, and the alto saxophonist for The Exodus Saxophone Quartet.
His primary saxophone teachers have been Tracy Wright, Jon Elliott, Clint Schmitt, Amy Griffiths and John Bleuel. Alex is currently the saxophone instructor at Chattanooga State Community College (Chattanooga, TN) and Covenant College (Lookout Mountain, GA).
In addition to saxophone performing and teaching, Alex is keenly interested in saxophone repair and design.
