Adam Garey was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1976. He received a BFA from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and a MFA from Florida State University in 2005. He currently lives and works in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he splits his time building his own work and managing the fabrication of Sculptor John Henry's work. He has recently exhibited in Miami, FL, New Orleans, LA, Jackson,TN, Chattanooga,TN, Solsberry, IN, and Atlanta, GA. He recently completed two commissions for Bob and Nora Bernhart (Chattanooga, TN) and Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, Solsberry, IN.
He received an award of Excellence at the 2007 Mid-South Sculpture Alliance Conference Exhibition, and his works have been exhibited at IRON 2006 in England, Oglesby Gallery in Tallahassee, Florida, Union Sculpture Tour in Jackson, Tennessee, and Inferno Art Park in Atlanta, Georgia. He also exhibited works at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum in England. "Sway" was previously exhibited at the Charles Hook Memorial Sculpture Garden in Tallahassee.
Garey's steel/stainless steel sculpture 'Sway' explores the concept of growth while remaining grounded.
