Nursing Transition Application Checklist

All application materials must be received on or before January 15 of each year.
Use this RN Transition application checklist as a guide for successfully completing the application process for the college and the RN Transition Program

Step 1: Complete Chattanooga State Community College Enrollment

  • For consideration of program admittance, you must have completed Chattanooga State enrollment for the program deadline. Apply Here
  • If you are not a current student at Chattanooga State, please complete a College application online.  Choose "Pre-Nursing" as your planned course of study.
  • Submit all official transcripts, proof of citizenship, etc. to appropriate college departments.
  • Testing (If applicable)
  • Orientation (If applicable)
  • Go to the  admission status page to check your Chattanooga State admission status.

Step 2: Meet With Your Academic Advisor

  • Once College Enrollment is complete, meet with an advisor to develop your academic plan.
  • All learning support classes and pre-requisite courses should be completed first.
  • Points are awarded for completed courses in the selection process.
  • Note: Attend a Nursing Information Session to help you understand the program acceptance process, important details, etc...

Transfer Students/Transcripts

  • If taking classes at another college and applying directly to the program, start Chattanooga State admission process early
  • Be sure to include transcripts for classes that you are presently taking even though in progress to ensure that you can be fully admitted by program deadline date. 
  • Have your transcript sent immediately to Chattanooga State Admission Office to be evaluated as soon as final grades are posted.

Step 3: LPN/Paramedic to RN Transition Admission Process:

  • Due to legal age requirement to attend clinical, applicants must be at least 18 years old before the start of summer classes
  • Must maintain a "C" or better in all Nursing courses.
  • Must have an overall minimum college GPA of 2.0 or a 2.5 program GPA.
  • Must be fully admitted to college by the program deadline date, and complete the online LPN/Paramedic to RN Transition Application.
  • Must be in Good Standing with Chattanooga State Community College.
  • Remember Point Calculation includes fall courses completed at time of application deadline.
  • If you do not attend Chattanooga State, send your final transcripts immediately after fall grades are posted so they can be evaluated before program deadline date.

Required:

  • Take the TEAS test.  Sign up early, spaces fill up fast.  For more information about the TEAS test and registration form visit the ATI TEAS website.
  • Attend a Nursing information session to obtain an explanation of the application process and important program details(session not required, but strongly recommended).

Step 4: Submission of LPN/Paramedic to RN Transition Application and Required Materials

  • Submit the online application.
  • Copy of TEAS Results that you want to use in your point calculation.
  • Copy of Documentation of Employment for LPN/Paramedic.
  • Copy of Verification of Employment for LPN/Paramedic.
  • Copy of active Licensure for LPN/Paramedic.
  • Copy of your Point Summary calculations found under Selection/Point Calculation on the Nursing website
  • Saving the application will allow you to return and make changes. Submitting the application is final and cannot be edited.
  • Once completed and submitted, Chattanooga State's Technical Clerk will automatically have access to your application.
