October 27, 2022 (Chattanooga, TN) --- Chattanooga State’s Dusty York recently attended the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB) in Kyoto, Japan as a representative and past president for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). York, ChattState’s Nuclear Medicine Program clinical coordinator, presented a program on the current status of nuclear medicine technology education in the United States and the technologist’s role in quality assurance and quality control.
With its mission to progress and promote Nuclear Medicine and the translation of “Molecular Medicine” throughout the many regions of the world, the principal activities of WFNMB support education, study and research efforts for nuclear physicians, radiopharmacists, radiochemists, technologists, and other nuclear medicine scientists.
With the World Federation meetings taking place every four years, Ms. York was honored to be a part of a symposium that shared trends in nuclear medicine education from around the world where she also had the opportunity to meet with leaders of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
“The world congress is an opportunity to enhance collaboration with leaders in nuclear medicine from around the world,” stated Ms. York.
Participation in national and international conference opportunities allows Chattanooga State’s Nuclear Medicine Program to be engaged at a higher level. “Opportunities like the World Federation congress allow me to bring a global perspective of nuclear medicine back to the classroom in Chattanooga, TN,” said Ms. York. “The Chattanooga State Nuclear Medicine Program also participates in a study abroad program each year where worldwide connections are often utilized and or incorporated into the program.”
