“Preparing professionals with knowledge and skills for exciting careers in early care and education”
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree prepares students for a career in child care and early education. Graduates of the ECED AAS program are prepared with career-specific skills and knowledge through a variety of field and classroom experiences. Knowledge and skills are presented in immediately practical, hands-on assignments. This degree meets many state and federal programs’ requirements for early childhood professionals, both in the classroom and in leadership positions. The program includes 61 credit hours for completion in two academic years of full-time enrollment. Most students with full-time work choose to complete the program a little more slowly.
Graduates from this program typically go on to become Head Start Teachers, Teacher Assistants in public and private schools, Department of Education Pre-K Assistants, Lead Teachers in child care programs, Child Care Center Administrators, Family Child Care Program Owners, Preschool Curriculum Coordinators, and Consultants.
Graduates from this program may also go on to pursue a bachelor degree in non-teacher-licensure programs, like Child & Family Studies or Early Care & Education.
