The Industrial Automation and Robotics Technician program provides students with introductory and advanced understanding of the theory and operation of industrial plants and advanced automated manufacturing systems. Students develop the skills and ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical control systems, including programmable logic control (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), automation controls, robotics, mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics. Students that continue to the advanced aspects of this program will get training in Industry 4.0 manufacturing practices. Students will gain the skills necessary to be Maintenance technicians and go beyond. Students enrolled in this program will have the ability to earn certificates and or a diploma depending on how long they remain in the program.

Course Schedule

The Industrial Automation program is an open-enrollment program allowing students to enroll in the fall, spring, or summer term. Students eligible to enroll will be allowed to register for one of the open seats, if available, during each term's enrollment period. 

  • Both day and evening classes are offered on the main campus.
  • Day classes are offered at the Marion County Kimball site and the Rhea County Dayton modular lab.
  • Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class

  • Credit by Examination Fee - The regular course fee is charged for each special examination and must be paid prior to taking the examination. Non-refundable. (See Academic Regulations.)
  • Credit for Life Experience Fees - Assessment Fee for Experiential Learning $45.00.  Experiential Learning Credit $15.00 per credit hour in excess of 3.0 credit hours. $90.00 maximum.
  • High School Equivalency Test (Hi-SET) - $75
