Andrew Patton, a recent graduate of Chattanooga State, is a testament to the benefits of adult education. Andrew returned to college when his wife was pregnant with their first child. He worked in a physically demanding, high-stress job and wanted to ensure that he could actively engage with his children during their formative years. 

Thanks to the TN Reconnect program, Andrew was able to resume his education and alleviate some of the financial stress associated with attending college, especially while raising a young family. The TN Reconnect program allowed him to concentrate on his studies and pursue his degree at ChattState. "Along this journey, I have made friends, met wonderful people, inspiring professors, and thoroughly enjoyed the classes in my degree plan," Andrew said. "I graduated in May 2022, and God has blessed me with an opportunity to grow and improve my standing in the company I currently work for."

Andrew's success story would not have been possible without confronting his fears and taking a leap of faith. "I am so thankful for Chattanooga State, the professors, and the friends I have made along the way," Andrew expressed. He is also grateful for the unwavering support of his wife and daughters, who encouraged him and helped him persevere through challenging times. "Most importantly, I am thankful to my loving wife and beautiful daughters for supporting me, picking me up when I've hit low points, always inspiring me to push through, and continuing to push me to make my dreams come true."
