December 9, 2022 (Chattanooga, TN) --- Two Chattanooga State Community College nursing faculty members were recently recognized as Erlanger Nursing Chairs of Excellence for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Nursing Instructor Heather Akers was named Erlanger Nursing Chair of Excellence for Adults and Nursing Instructor Lindsey O'Hagan was named Erlanger Nursing Chair of Excellence for Children. “Heather and Lindsey go above and beyond in teaching their students to become outstanding healthcare professionals,” states Rachel Harris, senior vice president, and chief nurse executive of Erlanger Health System. “On behalf of Erlanger, it is an honor to present these two outstanding nurse educators with the Erlanger Nursing Chairs of Excellence Awards.”

The Erlanger Nursing Chairs of Excellence program was established by Erlanger through the Chattanooga State Foundation to recognize faculty excellence in nursing. Figures from the Registered Nursing Licensure Exam show that pass rates by Chattanooga State graduates on their first attempt are consistently higher than state and national figures. In 2021, Chattanooga State’s Registered Nursing program was named the best associate degree program in Tennessee by Nursing Schools Almanac.
