President's Update - June 29, 2020

Dear Chattanooga State Community,

An individual who came in contact with the Chattanooga State Child Development Center has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was diagnosed with COVID-19 today, after being told they had tested negative on Friday, June 26.

This individual is now quarantining at home following the guidance of the Hamilton County Health Department. This individual had campus access that was limited to the Child Development Center. Following CDC guidelines, the Child Development Center will be closed for deep cleaning and disinfecting protocols. The Child Development Center will remain closed for 14 days for all employees and students to self-quarantine.

Chattanooga State, working with the Hamilton County Health Department, immediately began contacting all individuals who may have had contact with the infected individual. All persons deemed to be a contact have been asked to self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days.

While the majority of our students and employees continue online learning and working from home, we ask our campus community to remain vigilant with social distancing, wearing face masks, and following all other CDC recommendations to mitigate the spread of the virus whether on campus or anywhere in the community.

We are resilient. We are innovative. We are united. We are ChattState.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Ashford, Ed.D.
President
