August 2, 2016 | | Press Release
Chattanooga, TN (August 2, 2016) --- The Machine Tool Technician Program in the TN College of Applied Technology (TCAT) at Chattanooga State Community College has received nine $1,000 scholarships, to be used this fall, from the Gene Haas Foundation.
The Gene Haas Foundation provides numerous scholarships annually to help students build skills within the machining industry. The foundation also is heavily involved with students who participate in the annual SkillsUSA competitions.
Founded in 1983 by Gene Haas, Haas Automation, Inc. manufactures economical and reliable machine tools. Introducing new product lines over the years, Haas now manufactures four major product lines: vertical machining centers (VMCs), horizontal machining centers (HMCs), CNC lathes and rotary tables, as well as a number of large five-axis and specialty machines. All of their products are manufactured in California at one of the largest, most modern machine tool manufacturing operations in the United States.
In addition to applying for this scholarship, students may be eligible to receive the TCAT TN Reconnect, which is a grant fund for any adult student age 25 or older that attends a TCAT. This means that once all other forms of aid have been applied towards tuition, such as the Haas Scholarship, the TCAT Reconnect Grant picks up any of the remaining tuition costs, making this program even more affordable.
