Dear Chattanooga State Community,

You've probably heard us chat about Financial Aid and the FAFSA more times than you can count these past few weeks. You might be thinking, "Not the FAFSA talk again!" Well, there's a good reason we keep bringing it up, and yes, it's worth hearing one more time. So, why all the fuss about FAFSA? Let me tell you.

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) isn't just about getting loans that you'll need to pay back later. Nope, it's way more than that. Want in on work-study programs, scholarships, grants, or other financial help? You'll need to fill out the FAFSA first. And guess what? It's totally FREE to do so. Watch out for those internet tricksters trying to charge you for help with the FAFSA – they're not your friends.

Ready for some good news? The FAFSA Frenzy Kickoff is happening this week, and we're here to help you with the new FAFSA form. Oh, and did we mention there's FREE FOOD? Yeah, we thought that might catch your attention.

Wondering what you need to bring to fill out the FAFSA?

First up, create an FSA ID at studentaid.gov.

  • Grab your 2022 Tax Info.
  • Don't forget your Social Security number.
  • And lastly, your Email Address.

Not sure where to find these items or how to start with the form? No worries! Swing by the FAFSA Frenzy kickoff (details below ⬇️) for some FREE FOOD and FREE HELP—at ChattState, we've got your back. If you are unable to make it to the kickoff, TCAT students can stop by any day at the TCAT Student Services Office in TCAT 5. ChattState campus Wednesdays 10 a.m–2 p.m. in the Student Center in the Tiger Express Lab.
