Andy Light

About Artist

Andrew Light received his bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Kentucky and graduated from Florida State University with a master of fine arts degree in 2008. He was a former resident of Chattanooga and was studio assistant, fabricator, and welder at John Henry Sculptor Inc. Mr. Light previously served as fabricator and welder at Bettinger Welding in Tallahassee, Florida, and at Ironbridge Open Air Museum in Coalbrookedale, England. His works have been exhibited in Florida at Art Without Walls, Florida State Museum, Railroad Square Sculpture Park, and 621 Gallery, and in Lexington, Kentucky at Downtown Arts Center, Intrinsic Gallery, and Keystone Gallery. "Arise" was previously exhibited in the Sculpture on Campus Program at the University of Kentucky before the OMA at Chattanooga State. It is now part of the permanent collection of the city of Chattanooga where it sits on Hixon Pike at Access Road.

Mr. Light prefers the use of fabricated metals for his work, as they afford a high degree of plasticity and durability for his expressions.
