Position Description

Position Summary
  • FWS/IWS Positions (Peer Tutor)
Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Assist students in their academic achievement by meeting them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.

Peer tutoring is conducted by currently enrolled students who are providing supplemental instruction to assist with student academic success.

Required Qualifications

Meeting with students on a one-to-one, small group, drop-in, or classroom tutoring format(s) to provide learning assistance

Must be knowledgeable in subject matter

Must be reliable/dependable

Must have recommendation from faculty or department of course of which they will be providing tutoring services

Work Experience

Prior tutoring experience

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics

Must have completed a particular course in which tutoring with a grade of "B" or better.
Have good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
