Speakers Highlight International Business Issues at Chattanooga State

 The dynamics of global economics is the central theme speakers will address at Chattanooga State throughout the month of February.  Beginning on February 10, Chattanooga State will host the first in its series of high profile presenters, all of whom will focus on international business and finance.  The first guest speaker is Dr. Sebastian Vaduva, dean of the Griffiths School of Management at Emanuel University of Oradea in Romania.  Talking with Chattanooga State’s business management students, Dr. Vaduva will concentrate on the subject of “The Economic Integration of Romania into the European Union.”

Kenneth Goldsmith is the program director for Chattanooga State’s business department.  One of his goals is to integrate international business topics into the college’s curriculum, exposing students to the complexities of the global economy and stirring their interest in worldwide issues.  “We are fortunate that our students will have the opportunity to learn from such a respected and recognized educator like Dr. Vaduva,” says Goldsmith.  “We live in an interconnected world, and as educators we are obliged to strengthen our business programs to include a focus on global issues.  Dr. Vaduva’s visit to Chattanooga State allows us to better serve our students.”

Below is the list of speakers scheduled to address Chattanooga State’s business students in February 2009.

•   Monday, February 10 at 5:30 p.m.-Dr. Sebastian Vaduva presents “The Economic Integration of Romania into the European Union."

•   Monday, February 23 at 5:30 p.m.-Tom Decosimo of Decosimo Certified Public Accounts addresses students on the subject of entrepreneurship.

•   Tuesday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m.-Reid Henson, former vice chairman of the board of directors of Coca‐Cola Consolidated and founder of L’eggs Hosiery, talks with students about global business and finance.

•   Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m.-Tom Decosimo opens a discussion with students about supply chain management and professional service firms.

Dr. Vaduva’s visit to Chattanooga State is courtesy of The Decosimo Lecture Series on Global Business, which is sponsored by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Bryan College. Sebastian Vaduva is an authority on the topics of international business, management and marketing.  A respected educator and an accomplished business trainer and consultant, Dr. Vaduva holds a Ph.D. from the National School of Political Studies in Bucharest, a Ph.D. from the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest, a M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, and a B.B.A. from Cleveland State University.
