Chattanooga State Continuing Education provides a variety of short-term, non-credit, career-oriented health care programs. Some programs focus on enhancing an individual's existing skills while other programs provide training to individuals interested in a career in the healthcare industry. Skilled, credentialed professionals are exceedingly valuable to employers. Many of these courses lead to state licensure and many prepare participants to take national certification exams. Certified Nursing Assistant - View Course Catalog

Learn to work as an assistant in an entry-level position at a nursing home or other setting helping the professional nursing staff in the care of sick or disabled patients.

Phlebotomy Technician Certification Training Program - View Course Catalog

Phlebotomists collect blood specimens. In this class, students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and will develop comprehensive skills necessary to perform venipunctures completely and safely.

Beginning Medical Coding and Reimbursement I and II - View Course Catalog

In the first course, students will learn diagnosis coding, procedure coding, common Medicare and private insurance company practices, all with exercises to gain experience. The second course will focus on collections, reimbursements, and managing accounts.

EKG/Cardiovascular Technician Certification Program - View Course Catalog

In this program, students will become familiar with the function and proper use of the EKG, Holter Monitor, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, Echocardiography, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. Successful completion of this course permits the student to apply to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician (ASPT)-Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam.
