For a successful advising session, follow these steps:
Contact Advisor
- Make an advising appointment with your assigned advisor.
- If you do not have an assigned advisor, contact the Advising Center at 697-4483 or e-mail Pam Lee for an appointment.
Before your advising meeting, think about:
- Do my career goals require a career degree (AAS) or a transfer degree (AA or AS)?
- If AA or AS degree, to what four-year college am I most likely to transfer?
- Will I be a full-time or part-time student?
- Will I be working? Full-time? Part-time?
- What family and outside commitments do I have?
- What semesters will I attend?
Transcripts
- If you are transferring from another school, please bring copies of your college transcripts.
Educational Plan
- At your advising session, discuss your academic and career goals with your advisor, and then together map an Educational Plan to determine the courses you will take each semester until you graduate.
Organize Information
- Keep all of your advising related materials together in one folder, along with a sheet of paper to write down questions as they come to mind.
